Take advantage of energy incentives with Community Choice Energy programs

CEC has advocated for Community Choice Energy since 2007, when we released our visionary report: A New Energy Direction: a Blueprint for Santa Barbara County. At the time of its release, this report was one of the most ambitious carbon neutral plans in the United States. Community Choice Energy was highlighted as a transformative development for moving our region to 100% renewable and carbon-free electricity and helping residents and businesses adopt clean energy technologies.

After many years of advocacy by CEC and partners, including delivering public forums, creating a website, educating elected officials, staff and the community–even raising the first $50,000 to kick-start the tri-counties feasibility study–Community Choice Energy has fully launched on the Central Coast.

Three programs now serve 1.4 million residents in 22 cities across the tri-counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura.

Clean Power Alliance and Santa Barbara Clean Energy currently provide 100% renewable and clean electricity to most customers in their territories. Central Coast Community Energy has a goal of 60% renewable electricity by 2025, and 100% by 2030, which is 15 years ahead of the state of California's goal. The three Community Choice Energy providers offer various programs to help you adopt clean energy technologies like electric vehicles, energy storage, solar, and more. Check out the provider that serves you for their current programs.

Information and understanding about these programs are varied so we want you to have the most up-to-date and clear information about the benefits and incentives available to you. Below, we share a number of resources to help you get the most out of the programs Community Choice Energy offers.
