A Code Red Call to Action

In case you missed it, the most notable climate report from the most esteemed scientific body in the world recently summed up 4,000 pages of research with just four simple words:

Code Red for Humanity.

As our CEO Sigrid Wright reminded us afterward, when 721 scientists from 90 nations tell us that human activity is changing the climate in unprecedented and sometimes irreversible ways, we must listen.

When they state matter of factly that things will get worse before they get better, we must push past our fears, past our doubts, and take meaningful action to build a better world.

This is where CEC comes in. We believe that relentless, grounded optimism is our only path forward, and that leadership must come from regions like ours – committed to rapid, local, transformative action.

We are putting this belief into action with an audacious, on-the-ground master plan including 73 programmatic and policy goals and 124 supporting strategies. Over the next 10 years, we’ll scale regional solutions in areas such as climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, climate justice, community resilience, sustainable transportation, and youth leadership

This work will ensure the Central Coast can advance bold, equitable solutions to:

  • Reverse the trajectory of the climate crisis

  • Repair the damage already done

  • Protect communities from extreme weather and other climate impacts

This will only be possible with the support of our committed community.

Can we count on you to step forward and make an investment in CEC today? Will you help us build that better world for our shared future?

Your gift to CEC is an investment in an organization with a 50-year track record of practical and fearless solutions that work. It is an investment in a super-networker that actively builds impactful, forward-thinking partnerships with diverse organizations. And it is an investment in a 2020 California Nonprofit of the Year that consistently earns high ratings for financial health, accountability and transparency from two of the largest independent charity watchdogs.

We can use this narrow window of time to reverse the climate crisis and transform the systems that fuel it, but we need your help.

INVEST IN THE FUTURE TODAY

With gratitude on behalf of our full board, staff, and community,

The CEC Executive Committee,
